Life @ ITM

As a part of induction, students of PGDM 2016-2018 batch were taken on an Outbound Program on 29-07-16 To Dakshinachitra. She is a living-history museum in Tamil Nadu, dedicated to South Indian heritage and culture. Students were introduced to the art, architecture, lifestyles, crafts and performing arts of South India.  They were given an opportunity to try out  simple art and craft activities  like puppet shows, pottery making, weaving etc.  They could also view the contextual exhibitions in the houses that explain some of the rich traditions of different states in South India. They also had some management games which helped the students to have learning with fun.






Students visited Mahabalipuram on 30-07-16 as a continuation of the outbound program.
Students were introduced  to the history and significance of Mahabalipuram . They learned about the ruins of the Pallava Dynasty, one of the most powerful dynasties in South India. They visited the shore temple, varaha caves, etc. They were fascinated by the Dravidian style of architecture combined with the incredible Pallavan architectural methods. Students gained knowledge on their lifestyle, their preaching ways, their culture and traditions and how they influence south tradition today. 
The intricate designs, the colossal size of the temples, the poetry and dedication behind them were an incredible experience for the students.


Inauguration

ITM Business School Chennai with its passion for academic excellence and sustainable development, entered in to a new academic year with a warm inaugural ceremony conducted on 08-07-2015.Students of PGDM 2014-2016 batch heartily welcomed the newcomers with flowers and chocolates.


The chief guest of the day was Mr. Moorthy Chokkanathan, President & Global Head- enterprise solutions, Hexaware Chennai and Guest of Honor was Ms Gayathree Krishna, Business Manager, CORI Engineers Pvt Ltd, Chennai, who is also an Alumni of ITM Chennai.

The events commenced with the procession led by Prof P V Jaikumar, Registrar, ITM Business School, Chennai, at 9:30 am. Ms Ridhi N Makkadi of 2014 -2016 batch carried the ITM pennant, escorted by Mr. Dickson Livingston and Karthikeyan of 2014-2016 batch and were followed by the students of 2015 -2017 batch. 


The chief guest of the event, Mr. Moorthy Chokkanathan, President & Global Head- enterprise solutions, Hexaware Chennai, Dr Prasanna Sivanandam, Campus Head, ITM Business School, Chennai and the faculty and staff welcomed the procession. 

The meeting began with the lighting of ITM vidya Jyothi by Mr. Moorthy Chokkanathan, Dr Prasanna Sivanandam, Prof P V Jaikumar, Prof H Ahammed Shafi, PGP Coordinator and two students from the new batch 2015-2017.



It was followed by the invocation song by the choir.

Dr Prasanna Sivanandam welcomed the gathering of students, parents, faculty and staff.  She introduced ITM Business School to the new students and they were given a quick glance of all the activities and events happening in ITM.

Inaugural address was given by Mr. Moorthy Chokkanathan, President & Global Head- enterprise solutions, Hexaware Chennai. 



He spoke about the various factors that would have motivated the students to choose the PGDM program and how they should follow their aspirations. He spoke about the difference between eagles and ducks and how eagles always fly high and inspired the students to rise above their challenges and situations. He gave various examples of customer delight and encouraged the students to become the manager who creates a “Customer delight experience”.

He gave the students a bird’s eye view of the opportunities awaiting them in the corporate world and the requirement of MNC’s to have employable and self motivated management graduates.

Keynote address was delivered by Ms Gayathree Krishna, Business Manager, CORI Engineers Pvt Ltd, Chennai, who is also an Alumni of ITM Chennai. 



She spoke about how ITM helped in honing her skills and moulded her. She said that ITM taught her “not to run with the crowd, but to become the Leader”. She shared from her own experience about the changing perception about women in the corporate scenario and also how the right levels of confidence and enthusiasm will help you to attain broader goals.

The toppers from the batch 2014-2016 batch were felicitated during the event and awards were distributed for them and the winners of sports competition.

Students undertook an oath delivered by Prof P V Jaikumar, Registrar, ITM Business School, Chennai. They pledged to exhibit integrity and commitment in their work and towards ITM.
The inaugural session came to an end with Vote of Thanks proposed by Prof K Balapraveena and National Anthem.

Session II was resumed after the tea break. It began with Prof H Ahammed Shafi, PGP Coordinator, introducing the faculty and a discussion on academic calendar. It was followed by the introduction of administrative staff by Mr. S Saktivel and marketing team by Ms Yogalakshmi. Prof P V Jaikumar explained to the students about the rules in the hand book and examination code of conduct. Prof K Balapraveena introduced the “UTKARSH” Club to the students and various activities of the clubs. It was followed by the lunch break.

After the lunch break, students were taken to class room for a wide range of icebreaking activities.







It made the students to come out of their inhibitions and started interacting with each other and learn the basics of team building.

The day came to an end with ITM family rejoicing with the new batch and a commitment to work together towards the best.

Manaquest

Manaquest 2015,the flagship event of ITM Chennai, started with a grand inaugural ceremony. Manaquest 2015, was filled with the exuberance of young talented minds who had the opportunity to prove their mettle in various events. Inaugural ceremony started at 9:00 a.mwith the lighting of lamp by the dignitaries accompanied by Dr.Prasanna Sivanandham, Director, ITM Business School and Prof.K.Bala Praveena, Convenor, Manaquest 2015. As a tribute to Dr. APJ Kalam’s, the theme of Manaquest 2015 was kept as vision 2020. The chief guest of the event was Mr. S Inger Sol, a close associate of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and a scientist of ISRO. He spoke about how Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was an inspiration and how youth should get inspired by his ways and work towards his vision. Mr. Vinod Varghese Deputy Vice President of HDFC Bank was a special guest and he spoke about how students should have fun and discipline together. He pointed out the purpose of discipline is more important than merely being disciplined. Mr. Sreejit Hrishikesh City Manager Zoom Car was the guest of honor and he spoke about how Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam got the path wide open for youth with his vision 2020 and how students should have the passion to work towards his vision. After the inaugural ceremony, the events commenced much to the enthusiasm of the participants.





Confluence 2015

ITM Business School, Chennai breezed in to the year 2015 with an International marketing symposium “Confluence 2015” held on 9th and 10th January 2015. It focused on the theme “MARKETING STRATEGIES FOR THE GLOBAL SLOW DOWN”. The event elicited outstanding paper presentations and intense analytical discussions. The best of academia from both national and international universities, and renowned people of vast industry experience, enlightened the audience with their rich insights.



There were three eminent key note speakers: Dr. Bharadwaj, Professor, Great Lakes Institute Of Management, spoke about “Marketing Strategies to over come Global slowdown”, Mr. Vijayasarathy, Managing Director, Gastro Pharmaceuticals India Pvt Ltd, talked about “Marketing Strategies to overcome Global slowdown in Pharma Industry”, and Mr.Vinod Varghese, Product head - Credit Cards, HDFC Bank, spoke about “Marketing Strategies to over come Global Slow down in Credit Cards”.  A Journal titled, Business Sciences International Research, was published, which was one of the major highlights of the event. The Journal was published with ISBN and ISSN number and the hard copy was handed over to the scholars at the end of the event. It was followed by an Industrial visit to TCS and a Cultural Fest organized by the students, which added more color to the event

GUEST LECTURES AND WORKSHOPS

Guest Lectures and Workshops provide a platform for the students to have a continuous industry institute interface which helps the students to have a better understanding of the implementation of various managerial concepts and strategies in an organizational context. ITM Business School, values Guest Lectures as an integral part of pedagogy. ITM had the privilege of having many corporate leaders in the campus to provide students with deep insights of industry environment and its challenges and opportunities.



Students had the opportunity to listen to Mr. Laxminaryanan, Marketing head, Price Water Coopers, speaking on “Entrepreneurship for Managers”, Mr. K N Somasundaram, Trainer, NESTO speaking on “Financial Education “ and Mr. V. Ajay Subramanian, Trainer, NESTO educating them on Advance Excel & VBA – 1.

 Eminent people like Mrs. Sumitra Ghosh, Head- Special Initiatives, TCS, Mr. Muthu Ganesh, Manager- Wealth, Standard Chartered Bank, Mr. Chandra Venkataraju, Analytics & Insights Domain, TCS, Ms Mithra Malini V, Caterpillar, Mr. Shahshikanth Jayaraman, Founder, HR Sangam shared their thoughts with the students and inspired them

CONVOCATION CEREMONY OF 2013-2015 BATCH

The 21st convocation ceremony of ITM Chennai was a proud moment for the ITM fraternity, where we celebrated the successful graduation of students of 2013-2015 batch in a glittering ceremony held at Residency Towers, T.Nagar on 20-06-15. It was the day where perspiration gave way for aspirations. The day reflected the culmination of the student’s academic achievement. It was a time of celebration for students, families, friends, faculty and staff. Parents were elated at the victory of their children. 


Smt. Shobana Kamineni, Vice President of Confederation of Indian Industries and also Vice Chairperson of M/s. Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Limited, was the chief guest and delivered the convocation address. Smt. V.P.Rajini Reddy, founder and managing director of M/s.  Exemplarr Worldwide Limited, Chennai was the guest of honor on the occasion and delivered the keynote address.  Dr. Prasanna Sivanandam, Campus Head and Director of ITM Chennai submitted the annual report of ITM business school. The toppers from Marketing, Finance and International Business were awarded. It was a day to cherish, when the students took their stride towards their future with optimism and confidence filled with a feeling of success and accomplishment

After the inaugural session, students had an ice breaking session, where they had many games and activities. It made the students to come out of their inhibitions and started interacting with each other and learn the basics of team building. ITM family heartily welcomed the new batch with a commitment to explore and deliver the best. 
ITM organised Cognito to discover Management Mantras of 21st century:


Chennai, February 26th 2016: ITM Chennai has organised COGNITO, a national conference for students to bring up their intelligent thoughts to improve practises in Human Resources, Finance, marketing and operations in Management of an organisation.

More than 60 students presented management papers on emerging trends and challenges faced by industries at global level. The students made best use of the platform to present the research papers on several topics like work life harmony, performance and performance approach, inventory management, social media marketing, brand management, Corporate social responsibilities etc from industry perspective.


The papers were presented in the categories like conceptual, empirical, descriptive and case studies. The students also examined viable strategies adopted by companies. “Marketing Global Entertainment: Harry Potter, a Story of Successful Branding” by Gayathri U and Poojitha K, of MOP,  Vaishnav College for women was a well received paper.




The students have taken a step ahead to promote a variety of approaches and research issues in multiple disciplines. “A study on Human Resource Strategies from Ramayana” by G. Muthu Lakshmi and S. Deepa from SDNB Vaishnav College for Women is a case in point.

Few papers highlighted challenges faced by firms or economy- “Challenges faced by the French Companies while Entering the Indian Market by Ramya Socrates, Amity Business School was a very interesting paper.


“Cognito 2016 has set up a wonderful platform for students to showcase their potential for research. Students are encouraged to apply and present their research papers pertaining to Management, under the categories of Finance, Human Resource, Marketing and Operations Management”, said Dr Prasanna Sivanandam, Director ITM Business School Chennai.


Inaugural ceremony had eminent speakers of the industry like by Mr. Chetan Bulsari, Director, Finance, Barclays Bank and eminent academicians like Dr.  R Venkatesh, Professor, , VIT Business School etc as chief guests.

 This was followed by presentation session of selected research papers. The best five Research Papers, as selected by the panel, would be presented in an internationally listed Management Research journal.






















ITM Business School - Christmas celebration:


 ITM Business School, Chennai had a glorious day of Christmas celebration on Saturday, December 20 Christmas with a special event on 19.12.2015, in the presence of the DirectorDr. Prasanna Sivanandham, Registrar Prof. P.V. Jaikumar, Prof H. Ahamed Shaffi under the guidance of Prof Mrs. Achu Sam.

Students of PGDM Marketing (2014-16) batch took the privilege of organizing with Mr.Dickson Livingston (II Year) and Mr. Mainak Halder (II Year) at the helm. Mr. Govardhan. S and Ms. Rozalin Thangjam as Masters of Ceremonykept us engaged with interesting anectodes throughout the event.


Program started with the prayer song by Ms. Rebecca Ruskin (II Year), it followed by list events that included inspirational speech about Christmas by Mr. Arun Kumar (II Year), carols by Mr. Sounak Gosh and Team (I Year) then a contemporary dance performance by Ms. Divya & Team (II Year), and carols were sung by Ms. Lavanya & Team (II Year). Audience also witnessed an informative skit enacted about how Christmas has been celebrated in the past, by Ms. Sindhu Sankar & Team. Graffiti competition was held as a part of event & two groups i.e Ms. Sindhu & Ms. Ritu Sree Bose's team (II year) on one side and on the other side Ms. Roshini & Mr. Sangeet's team (I year) have participated. Director Dr. Prasanna Sivanandham and Registrar P.V. Jay Kumar judged these arts painted by two teams.

Program resumed with tasks planned by the I Year students. Tasks includes Brain teasers & fun games. It was followed by the prize distribution for the Graffiti competition. Ms. Sindhu & Ms. Ritu Sree Bose's team has won the first prize and the second prize was awarded to Ms. Roshini & Mr Sangeet's team (I year). The event has been closed with a vote of thanks to the organizers from Marketing.
